A group of four rising young talents are the latest batch of promising footballers to commit to the Northern Bullants for the 2021 VFL season.
Dylan Stone, Matt King, Liam Mackie and Tynan Smith each arrive at Preston City Oval with VFL experience under their belts and are poised to play important roles in the Bullants’ rebirth in the newly expanded state league competition.
Mackie, who was previously on Collingwood’s rookie list, and Stone arrive via Box Hill, while King has prior experience with Port Melbourne.
Smith, meanwhile, has represented Essendon’s VFL team.
“It’s one thing to get in front of these players, it’s another to tell them what you’re about and for them to believe and buy into that,” coach Josh Fraser told Leader Newspapers’ Ben Higgins.
“We’ve had a really good strike rate, it would have been easy for a lot of them to go play local footy or in Tynan’s case stay at Essendon.

“They’ve come from really good footy clubs and they’re really good people and that’s been a real focus of ours.
“They’ve impressed from day one in regards to how they go about training and driving standards.”
Mackie is a tall, rangy prospect, similar in build to his cousin, Andrew, who won three premierships with Geelong.
King has spent time on a half back flank, Stone has the capacity to play as a high half forward and move through the midfield, and Smith, a Greensborough product, made an impression in attack for the Bombers in the latter stages of the 2019 campaign.
The quartet joins Tom Wilson, Paul Ahern, Kieran Collins, Jean Luc Velissaris, Billy Murphy and Jackson Barling, who have each committed to the Bullants for season 2021.
Further player signings and club news will be communicated to members and supporters via the club’s website and social media channels.
